UPDATE:

"Some good news on the horizon from BP.

The problem at Kwinana was caused by a blown gasket and the worst case scenrio was portrayed to the media. I suppose it's a bit like blowing a head gasket on an engine and you have to put the car off the road and wait for it to be fixed so there's a bit of time involved. In this case the gasket that blew caught BP with their pants down. I suppose that's rather obvious. The Gasket is probably worth some mindblowingly stupid amount of money since the plant itself that makes Ultimate 98 is valued at $250M.

The upshot is that the machinery has been repaired, production has begun to ramp up and is expected to be a full levels by this coming weekend.

Supplies are expected to begin distribution in the early part of next week and by weeks end (November 24) we should see supplies of Ultimate 98 and Premium in most Servos.

In 2 weeks production and supplies should be back to normal levels.

At the moment there is apparently some 98 available in Bull Creek and reportedly in Kewdale and Kardinya (there may be others so phone around)."
