Sure were. In my younger daze, mates of mine had A9Xs and L34s. All had very neatly cut holes in the bonnets ex factory. GTs had their shakers but they had a rubber gasket around the shaker as such. When the bonnet closed, the gasket sealed against the bonnet hole. But with a real lumpy cam on board, you could see the gasket aint doin' the job!!
I myself was into XU1s so no scoops to be had. I sold my '73 XU1 which was ready to be put back together so I could get my WRX. My '71 GTR is still sitting under cover at my folks place!!!!
