Im not entirely sure about the non genuine belts. Looking at used timing belts yesterday, you can clearly see the difference between the two. The genuine ones seemed to wear better. Might have just been the half a dozen or so belts i saw though.

I guess if the other belts are cheap enough, you have the luxury of being able to replace them more often without too much hassle!
