Al MY00 WRX are EJ205NW2KE (NW2 denoting Boxer phase 2 series 2)
99 STI V5 is EJ207DW1PR
00 Sti V6 is EJ207DW2PR

Could this be another one of those things like our
Version6 STI's VIN codes not existing ?
Subaru has done some strange things with codes before !
Are you getting code off the engine ?
Perhaps it is from a half cut, not original equipment.
If you're camera is good enough take a pic of the code and
post it up.
