I disagree. The stats on speed related accidents does not take into consideration the speed limit. Crash at 80kmh on a country road (110kmh section) and that can be put down as speeding.
The problems lie with idiots sitting at 80-90kmh in the right hand lane of the freeway, with that smug look on their face because they are not speeding. The blocked up traffic then has to make dodgy moves to get past them.
Is sitting at 110kmh in the right hand lane of a freeway hooning? No. Why is it that every other country in the world has higher speed limits on highways, everyone sticks "left" unless overtaking (assuming driving on the left of course

What we have is a nanny state where if you are 1kmh over the stupidly slow speed limit set, my god you are seen to be worse than a rapist.
