I was there at the beginning of 08 and you pretty much chopped 2 zeros off the price and that was aud. I knew the dollar had dropped but did not realise it was quite that much.
There was a cheaper one though with a few more k's.
Transport is about $3k. Assuming it is rally import I dont think that the import duty is quite so bad. No compliance costs so maybe not quite as expensive as you guessed but you would be closer to the mark than me.
