I went through a nice divorce a couple of years ago. Thankfully no kids but the silly woman did manage to drag it out for 3 years. Definately go and see a family law specialist lawyer. Even if only for the initial rights etc.

I can give you the name of the one I used. Horrendously expensive but very good.
