The best advice I can give is to tell your mate to stay in the house and not leave if he can. Once he moves out it can be very difficult and time consuming to get her to sell if he needs the money and she will be holding all the cards when it comes to the property.

It will cost him big time in lawyers and stress if that is what he wants to do unless he is happy letting her have the house.

agreed, I have been thru this myself and I refused to leave my own house, once you go thats it.

also if you haven't pissed her off too much after that you should make every effort to avoid courts, it will cost you 10-15k min and they will rule heavily in her favour anyway

expect to be handing over ~70% of your total asset pool, including super, will be more if she brought any lump sum to the marriage (lotto win, inheritance etc)

The Citizens advice bureau offeer mediation services for ~200 I think, it all depends how much he wants to fight it.....
