I believe the RA's were the only JDM fitted with forged slugs by default in the GC's.
Early V5 ADM had cast pistons but later v5 and all V6 ADM had forged slugs (and less boost/timing), we were the only market where this occured.
Mainly due to quite a number of V5's going boom on our best fuel (95Ron) available at the time.
Hence why JDM v5 & 6 is 206kw and ADM is 195Kw (aus detune).

I would disagree with most of these comments, Aus spec V5/6 STi's all came with forgies as did JDM STi RA's. The JDM WRX RA models had cast pistons, shim over bucket and the higher 9:1 CR along with silver inlet manifolds a VF28/9 and group N Cams. Note: There are lepers or exceptions in nearly every model run so its fair to not say someone is wrong. Bouncing a 180kph limited Aus Spec V5 STi off the speed limiter around a track accounted for many a premature death. I thought the power cut came as a SA knee jerk reaction to limit liability.
