Yeh been googling it a fair bit, and the consensus seems to be that only 'fat' model ps3's have been affected, with the recent slimline's coming through unscathed...

Hopefully it is only a firmware issue that can be rectified, but some are maintaining it is a diode issue within the laser assembly...lame
