hey man im a texture coater we use the dulux brand which is the best and these peeps are right its the way to go. your walls need to be cement rendered first befor the texture can be applied and make sure the guy you get to do it knows wat he's doing, specially in this heat weather cause you'll be left with wats called join marks were its dried up on him, needs to stay wet wen applied so the applicator can work it

actratex is like a paint (colour of your choice) with a heap of sand and some other chemicals mixed in to it and is applied with a hawk and trowel. hope this helps
