Yes and no. Companies want to be associated with winners.
How many ads do you see for a company, then car with a slogan along the lines of "congrats xxxx, winner of xxxx 2011, powered by xxxx"
You are most most most unlikely to see the following "congrats tino g, 2nd last in open class world time attack 2012, we are so happy our product got you there"
You are better off chasing private companies like DT for example - the aftermarket parts industry want to be seen as at the front of the field to justify their expenditure.
