At the end of the day, whether or not it needs to be there, nor the reason why its there is irrelevant - the fact is that it is there and you drive accordingly. Its no different to other concrete barriers or walls that need to be there. Its just unfortunate that Todd made a mistake there; thankfully it only hurt the hip pocket and the ego!

Surely the simple solution is to put 3 or 4 plastic bollards there (same as the ones used in the chicane) to stop people cutting the grass. Clip the bollards and you get a time penalty - simple, effective and much, much safer.
Why create a hazard that doesn't need to be there?
