You'd be surprised how easy it is... It's a case of the more you earn the more you spend. I managed to do that for about a year. Always eating out, drinking lots of piss - only the expensive stuff, new toys, new guitars, new furniture, parts for cars, holidays, hotels, supporting deadbeat friends etc etc.
Even a year ago before I had my mortgage and was in what I thought was 'hardcore saving mode' I was saving about 3k a month. Now I have a mortgage which takes up almost all of that 3k, but since the moneys not there to begin with it's much easier to save again. I'm now saving an extra 2k a month without really trying.
For city workers, I can understand why they would take any opportunity to take a decent long weekend. Years of FIFO leaves me bemused how people can get a decent rest and enjoy their own time in only 2 days a week. One of which being sunday when everythings closed.
Bludgers still shit me though.
