I need your help to set the power FC
Anyone know how to set the power FC and has a manual step by step?
I saw a manual to Power FC (FC-Commander Instruction Manual) uploaded in this same forum, but I have many doubt. For example, in the values to ignition timing, how I know the value to put on "after ignition timing change"? or how I can know which is the correct value to put there?. I'll be waiting for your comments. Have a nice day! |

The car needs to be run on a rolling road dyno. The ignition timing needs to be adjusted by someone who knows what they are doing.
Do you have a wideband Lambda sensor? Set the AFR's first! 11.0:1 at peak boost (peak torque) dropping to 10.5:1 above 6000rpm for safety, 14.5:1 - 15.0:1 at low throttle cruise (off boost), 13.8:1 at idle. Ignition timing - start with the PFC base map - check that the knock index is below 30 when running the base map. If not reduce the timing in the cells that are knocking by 3 degrees before doing anything else. advance the high load cells by 1 degree at a time until you have a knock spike to 40 - then reduce the timing by 2 degrees (or more) until you see a maximum knock index of 30 again. This is the timing map of my current PFC tune (ignore the fuel map on the left it is for 440cc injectors): I run 1.6bar of boost on these timings so it should be a good place to start with your Ej20g.

Thank you Rossco!...
Finally I'm understanding a little. According to what you asked me if I have a wideband, I've a Innovate wideband. In this moment, I'm installing the 440cc injectors. and fuel pump (340 lph). I can copy your map on my car? and then see the behavior, or you do not you recommend it? |

I forgot to say that I've installed a IHI VF 34 turbocharger in my EJ20G. Also It has IASA forged pistons and Eagle connecting rods.

My fuel map will be different to yours because I'm using a different Airflow meter to yours so don't try to use it.
You can copy the ignition map no problem - it should be fine for you try, I'm running a VF34 also (at 1.6 bar). My motor has 8.4:1 Wiseco pistons in it. Do you have a datalogit or FC hako to allow laptop tuning?

I don't have datalogit, only I can to set through FC-commander. |

There is no need to go to 10.5:1 afr for 'safety'. 11.0 till redline is more than sufficient with most turbos when in their effiecient range and timing set right. Why 13.8 afr for idle ? Non avcs ej's are happy with 14.7-15 same as cruise. Most tuners including myself, find 38 deg cruise gives best economy, you find 44-46?? Your maps could use a lot of work in terms of smooth transitions between cells. Hope this doesn't sound blunt, just voicing my thoughts.

I respect what Rossco has done to help the forum, but that advice wasn't the best. Stock map pfc throws in 30deg+ depending on boost set.
Starting with that as a base for tuning is asking for a blown engine.

Did you fail to notice this: "The ignition timing needs to be adjusted by someone who knows what they are doing."
With my mappings the timing is well under 30 degrees by 5psi (around 23 degrees actually - miles away from the det threshold on 98) 13.8 at idle? because they always lean out with the A/c on, mine leans to 14.6 with the a/c on at idle. With the A/c on or off - it's locked into row 2 column 1 on the fuel map, and as you should know it locks the ignition to 13 degrees at idle as well. No issues with your opinion - everyone has one. Who do you tune for? What's your 257 making with that 3071?
