Don't fuck up the car's handling by just going for looks...a 215 tyre is too narrow for an 8.5" wide rim and a +35 offset will detract from handling....try and keep to +45 or greater. A 225 is OK for an 8" rim.
I suggest you talk to John Fowler Autosport 0416 105 911....

215/35R18s only have a load rating of 84, GC8s need 87 from memory, which means 225/35R18 would be required.

Ok.. so the guy that I want to buy the 18x8.5 +42 rims, running 225/35r18 tyres, said that I will definitely have no issues with clearance or the wheels sticking out of the guards due to the +42 offset and will not require any rolling of guards.
Any experts out there that can confirm this sound right ? |

You will not fit any 8.5 inch wide rims on a GC8 without guard rolling and camber. Regardless of offset
There just isn't enough room under there. They will fit, don't get me wrong, just not without some effort put in.

Stretched wheels and crazy camber look good (sometimes) for the weekender, static display and for photo-shoots...
...but as a daily there are far more practical set ups. 17x7.5 +44 17x8 +45 - ENKEI RPF1 17X8 +45 17x8 +45 (245 Profile Tyre) 17x8 +45 (235 Profile Tyre) - Rota G Force

Thanks Dan. I think I'll stay away from the 18x8.5 now after seeing those pics. I will now look for a 17x7.5 +44 as it will probably be the best for my everyday driving.

I like the factory look. I don't think there are many std STI's left these days in this condition.
