Sure I understand if you have some old, clunky desktop then you cannot realistically expect to run Vista, but not brand new hardware. |

You could always make Vista look like XP anyways if you turn off all the fancy options.

please correct me but wasnt vista 'pose to be 64 bit but cut it down so ordinary pc's could "try" and keep up?

No.
There is a 32 bit and 64 bit version of Vista. Same as the 64 bit Windows XP etc.

i wont be in a hurry to upgrade, windows xp64 is working a treat.

Twice as many bits!
For what it is worth... 32 bit can only address up to 4gb of memory, 64 bit can have 17 billion gb of memory.

my computer knowledge is lil but 32bit max ram windows will read is 3gig even tho u have 4gig in total. however if you have a 64bit it will read the 4gig ram and more.
pretty sure there more different but that all i can think off atm...im off to lunch lol
