Adobe CS4 master collection can run in native 64bit mode as well.

There is a few other software out there as well that is written for native 64bit execution.

Games seem to work flawlessly on Nvidia hardware on RC1 as well.

So far is looking pretty damm good.

Not seeing anything here that will convince me to convert our home network.
Have not regretted changing to Linux, now have two PCs, a laptop, Xbox and a eeePC all happy with Hardy Herron.

yeah thats true,i have a few systems on 9.04 and my server on debian 5. i guess though for the majority of people who want to use everyday apps, windows is needed, plus it being the standard in most offices/businesses

64 bit?? fark looks like i need to learn more about computers :/

so is my intel core duo processor capable of running 64bit OS? I guess so. I'm also guessing 64 bit OS will finally let me use more than 3GB of RAM? Currently running XP SP2 which is 32bit i presume.

if its core duo i think that is 32bit , core 2 duo is 64bit.

You need a 64bit CPU to install a 64bit OS, aka, AMD Opteron etc.

werticusness 14-05-2009 12:14 PM

you can get xp in 64 bit flavour - I've been running it for 2 years now.

I see plenty of 'windows 7 is better than vista'... but that is like saying cars are faster than a broken down bus.

I want to know if its better than xp64 and i doubt it actually adds anything I want or need.

64bit cpu's have been around since 1961 but in consumer form:

Any amd cpu since the athlon 64 is 64 bit and any intel since... ummm core 2 duo. Though there was some late p4's that had it.

Battlefield 2 was the first game to use more than 3.6gb of ram if you had maxed out graphics and resolution.

Download a small program called CUP-Z from www.cpuid.org

This will spit out all the stats about your CPU and some RAM info as well.

Small glitch in W7, was also present in Vista, and in XP to a smaller extent if you look really hard, but as per our SOE we run with a custom menu down the bottom near ther Start menu.

Making the menu is easy, but when you lock the taskbar, part of the file structure becomes visible which makes it look a bit shit. Does anyone know how to clear this up ..
