XP-64 circa 2005 Win7 circa 2009 You're argument is like me saying X-tree gold on DOS 6.2 still does everything I want, do I need to upgrade to this Windows business? If all that you do works on an old OS, then no you don't need the new version. If you want to run the newest software in the newest software environment... Yes you do.

Oh okay, so just for interests sake, what does windows 7 do that xp64 does not do? Besides dx10 / 11 which xp64 can do but Microsoft is artificially limiting to try to get vista sales. (and which features can be done in openGL in xp anyway) |

why not just get 64? 64 can run 64bit and 32bit and wont be limiting you in the future even if you dont really need it today. where as 32 will not ever handle 64bit apps. |

Also, I have two hdd's. Can I install it on my 2nd drive and keep XP on the first one without anything clashing?

But, you will say 'but XP64 can run these apps, so why the need for Win7?'. Which is just like saying 'I can draw some house plans up on a piece of paper, so why the need for this Autocad?'.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/64bit.html and http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...he_kernel.html OSX Snow Leopard (out in 08 June '09) will allow direct addressing of more than 4GB of RAM (without using PAE), as well as full 64 bit execution of 64 bit apps. Also Snow Leopard will be a far bigger speed increase for Core 2 Duo MAC users, system wide than for users of Windows 7 due to the way overlapping Virtual memory is used with 32 bit system apps in a MAC running Leopard. Now aren't you glad you bought a Core 2 Duo Mac. I know I am. J
