maximum motor sport...
I was told by thje guys at maximum motor spoet that fmic are a waste of time casue of the long pipe work that goes with it and that a top mount intercooler is the best way to go...in his words he said "the fmic bastardises the car and that they wernt designed to have one" he then said told me that he could just remap my computer and boost,to make the car spool up quicker and add more tourque....all this and a bit of tunning on the dyno for about $1890..any thoughts? thanks!

I've always been under the impression that you will lose some acceleration because of the increased length of the pipework. But then someone on here mentioned basically what you've said about remapping or something along those lines. I personally like the TM, no big bulky thing hanging off the front of the car and also has an air of mystery. Especially when a seemingly standard rex blows the doors of most of the common whores that aproach it.

Still have the STi topmount and good for a 12.3. I just look at the RB320 and the Litchfield type 25's ( yes I know pommy weather is cooler ) and wonder why so many feel the need for front mount.
I know they look great ( when new ) but just scream check me for a defect. If your after ECUTEK can't recomend Lanes tunes from race torque enough.

Top mounts in the UK are fine because temps are so cold there.... aussie heat and 400+hp is another thing though.
Top mounts would be aawesome if we had 10 degree days often too.

Which ever way you go about it both going to perform ok!
Depending on what you want if its just basic mods i would definatley go with a tmic.

yeah thats my thought as well im not too big on the fmic....i just wasnt sure, you see that many dudes running them so i was wondering if they really do work,i mean the logic behind it seems good, but then thats why the car was designed with a bonnet scoop yeah??

It's kinda along the same lines, so you know how STi's run the intercooler sprayer units, do they make much of a difference? It was all plumbed in when I bought mine, but didn't have a water bottle, and I'm not sure whether to get one.

Honestly Polar how many are really pushing 400 HP. For the level 95% take their cars to and the fact that most won't run it at 110% on a really hot day do you think it makes any real differance in the real world.
Motorsport use YES. Dyno Queen YES. Toy to put a smile on ya dial. I really doubt it.
