Default Exhaust rust?

was checking the rear pads when i looked under the car....hmmm 6 months old dylan spec is gettin a bit rusty at the welds, i know it was a cheapie and should have paid more for a proper stuff but out of interest, from those who purchased dylan spec tbe, anyone else noticed bit of rust here and there?

Somehow i think Wilmos MMS exhaust will be in high demand

Just get some steel wool or a wire brush, and scrub the welds with it....problem solved

Well I noticed the rust a few months after I got the system. But It hasn't got any worse since then.

After the wirebrush, don't forget to spray it with some rust proof spray that welders use. Forgot the name of the stuff - Bunnings has it.

Unfortunately, high metal prices has caused a lot of the China spec stainless steel to change in composition and suffer degraded quality. Are Dylan's 304 or 316 stainless, any ideas?

Would have to be 304 for the price, and not very good 304 at that. Also sounds like they are using either mild steel or very low quality stainless wire too.

Cold galv is probably what you want to prevent the welds rusting.

No idea, but thanks for the tip, I'll get around to it....would have helped to have a hoist

mr_psi: i knew what i was buying was cheap china stuff but never thought it'd rust in a few months....even locally made mild steel exhausts have 2 year rust warranty. Oh well, shit happens and you move on
