Default Estimated KW

Hi
I live down south so we dont have any dynos or anything

I am just curious I have 3"TBE+K&N Filter+Turbosmart BOV, what kind of kwatw would I be looking at?

If I were to add a boost controller and put the boost to 16psi or whatever is safe with stock internals what kw atw would i be looking at?

I am just looking at educated estimates... one day I'll make the trip up to get dynod

tia

Probably less than standard if you are not running aftermarket engine mgmt since the original ECU would be trying to compensate for the mods.

It's worth getting some kind of tunable ECU setup so you can make sure your car actually -is- safe.

Your BOV doesn't add any horsepower (in fact, usually they cost you a few)
The K&N filter - is it just a panel filter in the factory airbox? That won't gain you any HP, there's negligible pressure drop across the standard factory filter element.
Your turbo back exhaust is probably worth a fair few HP, depending on the design. Hard to estimate though.

Turning up the boost will always result in more horsepower - but just make sure you have enough fuel and that your timing isn't too far advanced.

I agree with the rest. Last time I did my 3" TBE, Apexi pod, vf22, sti injectors, bosch fuel pump, my car spat out 116hp (stock 225bhp. Varies) before ecutek.

After the ecutek went in, I recieved 240bhp. Doing performance mods without ECU will only make your car slower. In my case... alot more slower...

Might even improve your fuel consumption while your at it.

how do i know if the computer has been updated
i dont have log book/records...

if my ecu has been updated or not, would getting Power FC be a wise investment and cover everything...?

As far as fuel goes i do about 360km and (fuel light isnt on) but its rather low on the dial

Ultimately it depends what sort of power your going for and how much you wanna spend.

This is usually subjective but if your not really into serious power like 300bhp give or take, something like piggybacks are sufficient. Some piggybacks like Unichip, E-manage, etc etc will do the job.

Power FC is reasonable if your not into serious mods however is still capable of surplusing the 300bhp bracket.

You might be running rich with the TBE as so did I. The occassional backfire is very obvious.

Do check out a thread started by PMH with regards to where you can get your power FC done.

Power FC is a VERY capable ECU and there are many 9/10 second cars in Japan running this ECU.

By the way you mentioned about increasing boost. Power FC allows you to increase boost levels.

Hit 2 birds with 1 stone.
