I thought they were ok so long as they complied with ADRs. Most fail on ride height and lack of permanent mount for brake lines. Anyone confirm?
And yeah that front mount looks awful, cop magnet fo' sho' Sent from my Galaxy Note 10.1 using Tapatalk 2

I believe as soon as you have adjustable suspension that its illegal regardless of ADR approval. May well be wrong

The fact is you can get stickered for having a completely stock car if your attitude doesn't suit.. the cops only need suspicion.. they don't need to carry the book of law with them.
At the end of the day 90% of it falls down to rims, height, tint and noise. Make the car sound stock (no exhaust, or varex muffler at least) and put some moderately sized rims (18s or 17s) with plenty of wheel gap and some very light tint and you will very rarely see a yellow sticker land on your windscreen. Howeverrrrr now we're on the topic.. Has anyone confirmed the "All coilovers are illegal" myth? Has anyone had any luck running over the pits with coilovers?? Ive had slammed cars for ages but always used to the swapping out springs.. so interested to know If I could get away with winding up the coilovers to get over for being too low.

I've heard that regarding coilovers you now have to weld the height adjustment at legal height. Can anyone confirm this too?
Heard this only came into play recently. Cannot justify buying adjustable suspension just to weld in place.

What about insurance concerns? If it passes the pits then you crash it, what will the insurance company say?
My car is financed and a requirement of that is to be fully insured. Would kick my arse if I did have an accident and the insurance company decided not to pay out. Leaving me without a car and still in considerable debt.... |
