Subaru reading your ecu after Verso
I know thats probably been asked 20 times but I cant get conclusive answer from my mates that have verso/or other tunes...
Im planning on having my car tuned in a few weeks...will a subaru dealership still be able to plug into my Ecu after this to read their normal diagnostics? Or is that the end of Subaru readung anything off my Ecu and also the end of my warranty? Last edited by RJ999; 05-08-2013 at 10:32 PM. Reason: typo |

How much could possibly be remaining on an 06/07?

Have the Auto Assure Advantage...paid extra to get the top level one which covers the same as the standard manufacturer's warranty without limits.
Still have 2.5 years left! |

But you have tampered with the computer which effects the engine, and drivetrain (as their is more torque and power than stock). They will void those parts of the car from your warranty. So basically all your warranty covers now is suspension.

If you blow the engine up the may hook into your computer to check out whats going on. This is when they will notice it has been tuned and will deny your warranty.

It'll be fine otherwise...any part that needs changing will get changed as long as it's not some major drama where the whole car needs to go to the insurance company...even then they will ask your subaru dealer to troubleshoot and if they like you they won't say its been tuned! Usually it's just the subaru dealership calling up the insurance to get the authorisation to do the work or swap the part...that's one of the benefits of having your car serviced at the car yard, they don't question them, whereas if its a tuning shop that rings to perform some warranty work they will ask them to send that part in so they can check if it's been fkd with. You do pay less at a tuning shop for your normal service but you get a better service(customer service) at the subau dealership and they own up if they mess something up...no questions asked they will replace it for you with brand new. My 2 cents is... do all your tuning at a tuning shop but leave your normal servicing to the subaru dealer...might pay a tiny bit more but comes with lots of benefits, also resale etc etc... Now depends if its a really old wrx that has already been fkd with then no need to bother but if its a good wrx then keep it this way. |

And also all those stories that the tuner shops tell you about subaru dealers using cheap oil or not the right grade or try to cost save by using cheaper parts....mate, that is all fairy tales to try and get you to go to them for your service...It's all a load of shit!
Best way to find out...go to the subaru dealer and ask the service guys about it and then get them to walk you through the workshop and show you all they use (If you know them well enough)...they do it as per what Subaru says each car depending on what service gets it's on pack with its own oil and filters all brand new out of the box for each car. Don't believe what the shops say, go find out your own way first. Tuning shops are great for tuning, and dealers for your normal servicing. |
