WA Sprint Championship - Round 4 - RAC Driving Centre
Yesterday saw the fourth round of the WA Sprint Championship held in mixed conditions. The morning session saw beautiful sunshine and clear skies, and the afternoon session included a downpour early on with a semi dry track later in the session. This round was a "speed" round where the best 3 out of 4 runs counted. First and second place were fought out between David TJ Ahn in his Evo V and Brad Chapman in his Subaru WRX, with third place taken out by the ever consistent Paul Lowry in his Evo 9 running in mostly wet conditions throughout most of his session. In fourth place Allan Guelfi who was the fastest of the Porsche Car Club brigade who also co-ran a round of their club championship at this event. Allan put in consistent runs to also win class B in his Porsche 996 GT3 just over a second in front of Gary Jacobs in his Porsche Cayman S. Other class winners saw Vito Forte in his BMW M3 take the class BO win, Brett Read in his Porsche 911 take out class D, Simon Sharon Gunson taking out class CO in the Ford Capri Perana, Kevin Fitzmaurice won class A in the Lotus Elise after a super close battle with Richard Cox and Keith Woollard who shared the Toyota MR2. Finally class AO was won by Gary Thorn in his Birkin S3. Round 5 of the championship will hopefully be held in more consistent conditions on Sunday, 21 July. See ya there! Here are runs 2, 3 & 4 for me. The last being my fastest.
2nd run with a spin at around 1 min 25 secs. Run 3 when the back stepped out at the end of the main straight at about 47 secs and another at about 1 min 38 secs. Good fun. Run 4 my fastest, track had dried out a bit more now. Nearly 30 secs faster than my 1st run which was on a very wet track. Last edited by phoenix; 26-06-2013 at 11:51 AM. |

Found a couple of pics that give some idea of how wet it was on the first run

Is there anyone doing the Sprint this coming Sunday (21/7) who would like to swap his morning session for my afternoon session?

Theres about 40 odd cars in the morning session ( HSV Club has booked it out apparently ) and only about 20 in the arvo so far so the arvo would be the pick if you don't want to be standing around.
