We got 2.3 km into the first stage and hit a nasty bump and broke the right rear axle.. and that was the end of our day

I didn't crash it, not a mark on it. Won a stage, finished second in 4WD National class. 3rd overall including all the ARC. You won't see it reported but the rally was actually won by Dylan King in my old green GC8 but the ARC want the public to think 2 WD is the future so they put the WRX's in the background. It was reported that a 2wd car won 17 of 19 stages but this is not correct if you include ALL the cars. ( I believe if you claim you won a stage it means you beat EVERYONE not just the ones who paid to register for the series)
One of the reporters asked Dylan in a post rally interview how far behind the ARC cars he was....the reporter was quite surprised to learn that he was in front of all of them, such is the perception the public are getting at present. |

Here is the Forest Rally report covering the WARC (more exciting than the ARC anyway) where DT gets a good mention and a photo as well as Dylan. This rally was an all flat 4 race at the pointy end of the field.

Doug, fairly sure you were 4 seconds faster than the nearest ARC car at Busselton on Saturday night. Didn't check the time myself yet, but that was what was on the PA that night.

Yeah we were. That was the only stage we had the centre diff working. All the other stages it was overheating and blowing the fuse. It held out for 4 laps of Barnard Park though. When it's all working as it should be the car is great to drive, so balanced and predictable. Without the centre diff control it stays out sideways too long and too far, wastes time and is always in the gutter risking rear bumper and tyre damage. The other thing that was in the back of my mind was the potential to break a driveshaft and be stranded where we would usually lock the diff and limp out of stage to service and continue.
