Hey all,
I'm wanting to put a aftermarket panel filter on my 99/00 WRX, i've been told this will will stuff the AFM...some say as long as it doesn't require oil it should be all good. Any suggestions??? Cheers, ![]() Last edited by evo4clubspec; 06-07-2007 at 03:05 PM. |

a un-oiled paper filter wont damage the AFM. It'll be fine.

Aftermarket panel filters are generally not un-oiled, and not usually made of paper either.
An oiled cotton panel filter will be fine, as long as it is not over oiled. |

a genuine subaru panel filter is just as good as any other, there is no point in changing!
if you do want an 'upgrade' get an sti one. dont know if it will fit though |

Apexi makes an aftermarket un-oiled paper filter.

Mmm not really hey, will makes a bee's dick of difference if any.
A clean OEM filter will flow about the same as a clean K&N filter, etc. Do it if you want, its good because you can clean it regularly and you will save over the cost of replacing it with stock Subaru filters. Apart from that, if you're looking for a performance upgrade, get a proper intake. |

Have you taken out the resinator box? It is hidden in the gaurd and this is one of the main restrictions in the system. A bit of a pain to take out but worthwhile.
