Yer Caliper! Remove First

devilfish 17-08-2007 02:47 PM

no crappy brass screws holding the disk on a subaru?

BALISTC 17-08-2007 02:47 PM

Nope...slides straight off, and if it doesnt, a tap with a mallet gets em right off.

bugeye 17-08-2007 03:22 PM

the reason i am getting new rotors is because they are scored, there are heaps of lines running throught the rotor a few are quite deep...

therefore ide assume my pads arent flat as they would go in to the scored channels in the rotors... wouldnt the inconsistent pads affect the new rotors?

yes.

thats why theres 2 schools of thought on ithe issue

1> do sperately

2> do at the same time, but be really ginger for the first tank of gas (no hard braking) untill they bed in.
installing rotors??? is it an easy job??? any one got a step by step DIY?
Try this http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/projects/brakes/change_rotors/
or this

That'll get you started, but seriously, have someone in the know handy, even by phone in case it goes pear shaped. Brakes are the last thing you want to fail. :)

Hey while on the topic, setting up for a track runner, DBA 4000's will more more the go then the 650's i have on the front. Now i was wondering, can the 650's be put at the back and DBA4000's put onto the front?

RBWA 20-08-2007 09:18 AM

No the fronts can't go on the back
How would your handbrake work ?

650's are for 4 pot equipped cars
If the WRX is earlier than 99 and runs a 2 pot the 648 is correct
