I know on the GC8's i drove my car with an exhaust for a while. The worst it does is run rich (as opposed to lean which = ping which = misdetonation = melted piston etc) so it can foul spark plugs and 02 sensors when driven for extended periods of time.

All in all i reckon you'll be fine!

Rich can be bad too.

It can wash the oil off the bores which causes glazing and therefore excessive oil consumption, if the engine is running rich and its subject to light load running i.e. extended idling, driving in traffic.

No probs dude

I don't think it'll be a problem in this situation, but just saying, extreme richness is just as bad as extreme leanness.

Am I correct in saying this sounds like what happens to a genset which is run under low load conditions for extended periods of time?

Ok guys,

Have had a read through the IHI turbos section but.. wondering.

What would the difference between the feel of a vf34 and vf43 be (response, pull to redline or not etc)? And also

If i was to be pulling around 200 kw atw on a 2007 WRX non STi would I be risking breaking anything or will it stand up to the punishment - probably would be only running around 16 PSI on a safe street orientated tune so maybe not quite 200 atw. Dont want to put too much PSI through the EJ255.

Sorry for the self indulgent thread but thought it's better than starting another one.

Thanks!!

Yeah good Q.

From what i've read, you can pull 200Kw out of the stock internals without too much drama.

Up-rated Injectors to be super-safe, but not 100% essential.

I am about to do a VF34 also .. Fuel pump on my car has been done already, so thats an essential item, as well as a tune after installation.

Thanks Rich,

I was under the impression that the 06/07s were running same injectors as the STi's (550 i think?) anyway? from what I have read in some other threads. And I have a walbro 255 under my bed as we speak as well as an exhaust just trying to decide how far I will go before I get it all installed and tuned

Thanks mate.
