Since u already have the big tmic, look at a good y pipe and a matching splitter to take full benefit of the bigger core.

everyone i "know" who upgrades to a front mount also increases the ic core dramaticly, but what if your didnt?? if you went front mount but had a core similar sized to that of your top mount would you still produce numbers because of the colder charged air and at the same time keeping lag minimal??

just a thought.

i made this point many moons ago and everyone skipped straight over it. if you could fit a 300x600 core on top of your motor... would anyone do it ?

Simply increases the heat soak area. Increased volume too, which defeats the purpose of small coolers with minimal inlet tract. Doubt it would improve performance at all.

Minimizing piping bends by custom fabrication also decreases lag.
Thick cores, minimal height also help cooling and air flow tract. They are not that laggy if designed and applied efficiently.

here is the core i have on my car. All Aluminium Cypher custom T&F - aka old explicit.

does anyone know what the STi ic's HP rating is? . . . is it the same as jdm?
