Default Ticking sound

Guys,

Saw a video on youtube about piston slapping... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMlOemrjyk8

Apparantly its pretty common for my97-98 rex. Anyone here has this problem?

When my car is first started in the moring it rattles till it reaches operating temp.

Has me a bit worryed but regular service and making sure its idled to warm up each time, should be fine for a while.

I bought it from the east and not sure of engine mods. Could be lucky, could have forgies

Just found this info about piston slap in EJ20T off a overseas subaru site...

"Piston slap in modern engines is often caused by deposits on piston heads in emissions reducing engines that have a piston clearance of less than 1mm at top dead center. It likely is not caused by metal to metal impact.

It may be a little pricey for an additive (~$10), but the first thing I would do it add a bottle of Chevron Techron to your next fill up. It does wonders for removing deposits fuel injector AND piston head deposits. If possible, fill up with Chevron Supreme too.

Repeat if it still doesn't go away.

You should notice your piston slap disappearing and more power since your engine probably has been retarding the spark to compensate for the increased compression too.

Check this link out for more info:

Check one of your plug leads hasn't come loose. One of mine did one day. just enough to cause a spark to jump and "click" each time. Very annoying ticking
sound from engine but easily fixed by pusing lead back on all the way.

this happened to me at barbagallo during a track day.

was told that I had dropped a valve, blown a piston, smashed a lifter......
