wheel alignment????
My car went in for a wheel alignment friday, but have noticed that after this has been done, setup was factory now has some camber etc, the steering wheel doesn't sit straight while driving..
Has anyone had this problem or has the alignment not been done right?? as it gives me the sh!ts. |

Take it back, the wheel should be straight.

had the same problem when i got new tyres put on. took it back to the place that did my tyres and asked them to fix it and they made it worse.
in the end i just went to wilkinson suspension in bayswater and they did it spot on first time. |

Wilkinsons FTW! never let a tyre shop do a alignment they never get it right , also they will insist on "test driving" your car WTF why do they need to the aligner tells them everything they need to know,if its not right the customer will let them know.

got some new rims coming now so gotta get another one. Can't be bothered going back... It can just give me the shits for a few weeks.. I would like to know how they do it, the only thing i can think of is that while they are adjusting everything it puts the wheel off centre and they don't check to make sure everythings right..
plus is anyone's camber exactly the same each side, as mines slightly different each side.. does anyone know if you can get adjustable strut tops for the rear for hsd coilovers??? |

......and i managed to drive away with a nail through my brand new tyres there as well. I know people swear by Wilko's, but my first experience isnt a great one.

Guys, insist that your wheel is straight after an alignment. Tell the shop your test driving it around the block. If it's out ask them to fix it, politely but then and there.
It is very common with Subies that this happens. I have had more than 20 wheel alignments done on my WRX and most times the wheel needs readjusting. I put this down to some hysteresis in the steering box. Some might call it "Slop" Shane at Exley's in Willeton has done more than his share of WRX's and will tweek your wheel straight if you let him know. Likewise all the other shops, however if your to lazy to tell them you get what you ask for.

Camber from side to side will always vary by a few minutes, but never by degrees...variation by up to 10 or 15 minutes is not an issue. Getting the steering wheel straight is a very simple job. You should take it back and insist they get it fixed, though it's possible they will claim it was OK when it left them and that you must have hit a kerb...but you would have to hit something very violently to put the steering out. Yet again if you can't be bothered going back, why post it as an issue on this site? Personally I have always used Wheels World and wouldn't trust my car to anyone else, though Wilkos and Shane at Exeleys are also very reputable. |
