Find a decent second hand EBC for sale for much much lower then 600 bucks.
My BLITZ one cost me 200 bucks, is the older version without the wanky screens etc, and I love it to bits. Has two buttons and two dials - Power - well you work that out... turn the unit off and it spools as it would without any sort of control Mode - switch between high and low boost. The two dials - low and high - turn it to the right to raise boost, turn it to the left to lower boost. I have mine set to .6 bar low and .95 high. Because it electronically controls the solenoid etc, the boost line is flatter then a 10 year old girl. An electronic signal is infinity quicker then some spring and ball trying to mechanically move. The gain setting is on the rear of the unit, and brings on boost much harder and earlier then stock. However, this must be set right, as too much gain can cause turbine reversion etc. Do not waste your time with a manual boost controller - they have no over riding protection when the boost tries to rise over the set level. As said above, set the thing to 17psi, take it for a thrash on a cold night, and watch it make 20.. thats what the the one that came with my car did. Awesomeness. My guess is you have one these already and need to feel better about putting it on the car.

hmm the bang theory is a horrid one to think about
but in saying the ' take it for a spin on a cold night and watch it spike and bang ' Even now when i go for a drive at night i expirience boost cut, so shouldnt boost cut still operate the same with or without the manual boost controller ?? i dont mean to be simple or a pain, im just really interested in learning more about my turbo car lol |

na no hose disconnected, just got TBE which i think is causing it to expirience boost cut on colder nights ... Esp under more load, i dont expirience it if i bring the car up thru the rev range but i does it if i drop it down say into 3rd doing 100ish or thereabout or give it some gas in 5th doin the same speed. But from the line i dont get boost cut

What model of car do you drive - I assume WRX - issit a GC8, Bug eye, Pignose?
Im gonna go with smokey and say you have some of leak causing it to spike... most WRX with TBE dont touch cut.

yea i drive a MY99
well to be honest it may not be boost cut but to me it sure has to be ?? ( ive been known to be wrong but :P ) at bout 16 psi it cuts in and the boost the boost gauge drops to bout 10 psi then starts to pick back up again, its not super violant, like evo2 described it but i think its boost cut ?? |
