OEM 02 STI front LSD is a suretrac.

They wear out over time, but generally don't need servicing.

If you are going to replace it, get a Helical LSD. Plated front LSD for a daily driven street car is a bit of pain.

Yeah as much as I want to do more track days I still do need to drive it on the street without any headaches..

Just got in touch with a dude from over east whos selling a Spec C helical front for 450 so I guess ill grab that..

Just on this again, I had a suggestion from Ballsack/Joe to pull the front driveshafts out and try driving it, and if it still pulls strangely it rules the diff out.. Is this worth a shot and if I pull the shafts out is oil going to piss out or does it have stub axles?

If it still does it after that its either bent or brakes possibly?

Just trying to rule things out before i spend cash on a new diff for no reason.. cheers guys
Hmm.. MY05 STi
Under hard accelleration in first, I get pulling cycling from left right left right.
It's not launching but revs to say 4k and letting the clutch out so as not to stall or dump.
The road surface was not smooth.

Any ideas..
Normal. Sounds like you're breaking traction at the front wheels mate.
I had a suggestion to pull the front driveshafts out and try driving it,

Good way to destroy the centre diff,
and how are you going to hold the front wheel bearings together if there are no outer cv's doing it for you?

BALISTC 31-01-2009 01:02 PM

Thats what he was asking....whether he could just pull them out or not.

Either way, the centre diff would be fine if the car was just driven 50m up the road to see if its still pulling to one side or not.

Alem...another option is to smash it on a Dynapack dyno.

The individual packs can measure wheel speed, and you can find out whether it is an alignment, suspension or chassis problem (wheel speed will be the same), or whether something is actually stopping the wheels from spinning the same speed and causing the car to pull to one side (wheel speed will differ from side to side)
