Is there any data available on how much temp is reduced externally from ceramic coating? Just looking at what I need to do with a after market up-pipe. Wondering if to just wrap it, or ceramic coat, or both.
Over the years, the wrap I assume would degrade, so if you can avoid wrapping that would be beneficial from a maintenance perspective. Just was wondering if ceramic coating inside & out is "that" good - via CIC in Welshpool.

I would just buy stuff pre-coated if I was to do it all over again. Either from the U.S. With swaintech or from over East already coated too. I can't remember who Prospeed uses but they did offer the coating at the time of purchase.

The ceramic stuff always flakes off eventually.
I just use the DEI titanium wrap. It's bloody good stuff and if you do it properly and secure it with lock wire it lasts better than the ceramic stuff does. I'll try and dig a picture out.

Found a couple,
Half inch overlap and wire lock every 10cm

Were these SS headers mate?
From what I've been reading on the usa forums etc., leads me to believe that any kind of wrap will affect the structural properties of SS over time following many heat cycles and hence result in the leaks/cracks we all hear about... truth or just the usual myths

Unless you are buying killer Bee or Full Race headers the rest are relatively cheap now. I would go DEI and avoid having to deal with CIC.

Yeh, I'm with Stace on this. On street driven and race prepped cars, in my experience not once have I seen the coating flake off.

I've had a small section on mine flake. Generally though, you'd be hard pressed to shift the stuff. The item is a 304SS weld elbow turbo manifold coated at CIC. The coating does make a worthwhile improvement over non coated. Mine were double coated inside and out in black. I've since wrapped them to further reduce the under bonnet temps. Been running like this for around 3 years now. Would I do it again? Absolutely.
For what it's worth I also had the downpipe and all the aluminium intercooler pipes done too.
