Are you running the sort that is a bit of a jumble of pipes on one side or the Perrin style that uses the cutout on the sump. Apparently the Perrin ones sit higher than the messy ones so I'm hoping the under tray will be fine.
I have the tomei twin scroll equal length ones... I am told that the perrin ones are a copy of these?? not sure

Do both! Seriously, coat then wrap. you want to keep them as hot as possible.

Sure, the wrapping wears out after a while but thats not the end of the world, just wrap again. : )

on the 201 i run an unwrapped syms racing 4-1 exhaust manifold with a norm butler (catless) exhaust with single muffler (personally i would prefer it louder but the bark more than makes up for it)

view one of fobz vids @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkVcMiiiqng

at about min 3:41 you can see a parade of various exhaust combinations, including pete's titanium efforts, followed by the 201 as above and naturally if you wait till the end a nice antilag to redline, go the tuned lenght exhaust manifolds!

Hey chaps, dreaded first post.
I'm looking at getting EL headers for my 2001 Forester (2.0L). I'm guessing I'll have to get these made up for me at a shop as opposed to buying them premade (no luck on looking...maybe I don't know where to look). I'm very new to working on cars for performance as all the work I've ever done has been on 4WDs, not 'street' cars. I know all the good fourby shops in Perth but I know **** all about where to go or who to ask in Perth regarding modifying my Forester.

Long story short; can anyone point me in the right direction for where I should look to get EL headers for my EJ20? Also, I rough price gestimation would be handy too :p

Cheers lads, sorry to be such a freaking n00b and sorry if I didn't provide enough information.

I wouldn't put them on unless you are doing a heap of mods and turbo upgrade. You wont notice any gains and you will loose your lumpy exhaust soud that is unique to the WRX.

SKYHIONPSI 18-04-2009 11:19 PM

Is it n/a or a GT? if its n/a and you want to maintain that boxer rumble, go for some un-even length or un-equal length headers. Would only go equal length for performance benefits if its a turbo with other supporting mods.

Thanks for the replies. It's N/A unfortunately...but I am some what considering either dumping in a EJ20T (if I can find one within my budget) or simply bolting on a turbo kit.
The thing is I want to gain some power but I'm not looking for anything major.

Are you guys saying that having EL headers on the N/A is not worth it at all? As for the boxer rumble that I'll miss out on...well, to be honest I couldn't care less how my car sounds. Not really into that.

You can't just bolt on a turbo kit to a N/A engine.

says who?

I may be wrong... But i thought compression was a big factor ?
