I blew my engine a beauty, made a really soft pop noise and showered oil everywhere (still to be cleaned after a year), If you have done a bottom end make sure you get the heads recond, or even port and polished and some nice aftermarket cams, sti oil pump, some injector work, maybe a bigger turbo and a ECU upgrade, you will be .
good luck!

JDM twinscroll 207 will make more torque than the 257.

257 = Low Down Torque at Low Revs
3.9 Final drive Ratio on a 98 WRX Gearbox + Torque = Bang Rattle Rattle Rattle Get at least a 4.444 Ratio Gearbox in there as well while your doing the engine. JDM Twinscroll EJ207 for the Win. as well :-)

yea dont know much bout the ratios and stuff but im lookin at investing in a 6 spd.
i know everyone has the 207 and its awesome and it works good and you get lots of power and you can get lots of torque... but the problem with it is that everyone has it. i know it probly sounds stupid but i dont want the same kind of car as everyone else out there id like to have something different. hence the reason im getting the 257. i havent heard of many people having them and working so im gonna try it out and see where it goes. if it doesnt work out then bad luck to me ill come back to the 207. but if it does work out at least i can say ive got something different :S |

Tino's 257 has pretty much everything you can chuck into an ej. It will be bulletproof! - look for the thread -'trainwrx engine build pack' 6 speed will have you laughing. It will handle all the power you can throw at it and keep your engine in its power range better as well. keep in mind you are looking at some pretty large coin for this sort of combo. If you want a reliable track weapon on a normal mans budget, seriously, go with a 207. As a rough guestimate, if you go down the 257 path, look at spending around 20 - 30 g 15k for the block alone. 6- 10k for the transmission. 2 - 4k for an ecu. 5k labour, tuning, miscelaneous.

beat me too it^^^^^
its fucking expensive to make to make a 2.5 strong enough to handle big power/boost. People have gone down similar paths with builds cos they work.

well there isnt really a time limit on the build so ill just do bits and peices wherever i can afford and hopefully at the end of it ill have something worth the money that i can be proud of.
