sorry to hijack for a second jordiee :P
but didn't want to start a new thread on a brake noise. has anyone experienced a scraping noise from the discs while turning? i have put RDA slotted on with EBC Blacks on the front. only get the noise when getting close to full lock. any thoughts appreciated, and repeat dealing with all new components. noticed it majorly when i went down zigzag. cheers in advance Steve |
After looking a your vid....It sounds like a disk with excessive runout to me.
You can try the following: Remove the front wheels & unbolt the calipers....Remove the disks & wire brush the axle hub (where the disk mounts up) and also wire brush the inside of the disk hat where it meets the hub & then reassemble...Ensure to tighten the wheel nuts opposite to opposite to get them even. .
do i need to bleed anything putting the callipers back on? |
No, you don't need to unbolt the brake lines. Just unbolt the caliper from the hub.

a cable tie is handy for supporting the calipers off the front spring whilst unbolted from the hub.

alright,
after an hour of fiddling around in the dark, because i had no time prior to this, i managed to get what rust and shit was on my wheel hub off for the main part. however when i went for a drive after, the squeaking still remained, still stopped when i turned left or braked and was still driving me insane. all i could find on my wheel apart from the build up was this small burr on the rim of my hub, it sticks up about half a mill. the wheel hub locking nut is also shot to shit refer to photos i don't know if it's significant. anyway, at my wits end |
We had major issues when we had ours changed in the wagon not knowing about this site at the time we went to our local servo hes dealt with wrxs before but the noise would drive us nuts (it got written off before we could investigate further :( ) im a bit lost with the lingo in previous posts :p from what i remember with ours something was warped..? though if your mechanic mate cant locate the prob then im assuming this isnt it as thats easily spotted.....? We were told to get them skimmed too but that made it worse
|
it shouldn't be warped, it's brand new :<
afaik they can't machine slotted rotors, and it's weird that it made it worse for you. also bump for rossco |
maybe jack the car up and spin the wheel by hand and listen to where abouts the squeek is actually coming from
|
...
|
ignore my previous post, swapping rotors didn't work
carton of *insert choice here* is now up for grabs to whoever solves this |
