On this topic of high temps the car can run. Can anyone confirm or disprove, I read in some manual a year or so back that you could technically run the car at 140C for about 45 minutes before significant damage occurs?

It would, give more surface area to transfer heat, but yes they are a constant flow system, the heater core forms part of the bypass circuit when the thermostat is closed. A partially blocked heater core would cause cooling issues

Solid advice.. Which is why I checked to ensure excess air was out of the system. Seems to have worked, and ill be using water wetter as an extra safety measure

It would be an absolute miracle if your engine survived at that temperature. Anything over 105 and I would be pulling over!

at 140 degrees for 45 minutes, if you havent burst pipes, shat o-rings in the block or wrecked the water pump, i'd be astounded.
