Also trying email enkei directly, most manufactures have a fair bit of info or the supplier you plan to go through.

Appears to be plenty of clearance between the caliper and rim in my situation. If you hit a brick wall with trying to get info on this setup, see if you can find a member of these forums in Perth and I can arrange to meet up with them and attempt a test fit to see what the clearances are. Did you check the wheel fitment thread: keep it drama free thread on NASIOC? I did some searching (RPF1, 17x9, etc) on there when I was doing my research and I vaguely remember some people fitting the 17x9 +45 onto earlier models of the WRX. Might be worthwhile having a look into.

Thanks again for the replies.
@DukeDrifter, I didn't email Enkei as of yet but I did email the supplier I bought from both via email and their eBay store and they did not reply and they had plenty of time. I considered not buying from them due to them ignoring my enquires. They changed their tune pretty fast when I paid for the wheels and they called me within a hour of making payment. If there was other cheaper options in Aus I would have definitely bought from someone else. And I did email other sellers without reply as well. @Soksta, thanks a lot for the offer it won't be necessary now. Actually I don't know how I missed that thread, I am on page 7 of 169 at the moment. I ended up buying the 9" because of the concave and better appearance compared to the 8". One guy I talked to had the same wheels with 255/40s on them and they fit under the guard although it was a US WRX with flatter calipers than ours, another guy said he needed 3mm spacers to fit them with 4 pot brakes. But I still am a bit concerned regardless of that. Worse case scenario I think I'll need spacers, coilovers, camber and rolled guards but I am hoping I can get away with just spacers for now. The wheels should arrive in a week or so and I'll post some pics fitted without tyres and post if I come across any issues that might help out other members in the future. I have posted these pics in the introductory thread but this is the car they are going on with stock 17x7s (215/45R17) at the moment. |

Generally i'd do whatever suspension work i wanted first, and then buy wheels to suit that setup. Not the other way around. (not sure if you said you've already ordered the wheels or not)
Hell of a lot easier to borrow a wheel to fit onto your car to see if it fits as a pose to fitting a wheel and trying suspension, rolling guards, spacers, camber, tyre width, brakes to make it fit.

Unfortunately its not possible for me to borrow one, I don't know anyone with a Subaru or Enkeis let alone in a 17x9 +45 (I wish I did).
Although even after suspension modification, buying wheels to suit that set up would still put me in the same situation of not knowing if they would fit or not and it would be harder to seek the information for modified suspension with all the added variables than with stock suspension. I should be OK with spacers and rolled guards at the most, although I'm not banking on it. I'll update when the wheels arrive. |

Bit of an update.
RPF1 17x9 +45 wheels with 245/40R17 Hankook RS-3's. 5mm spacer on the front to clear 4 pots (3mm spacer had 1mm clearance). 3mm spacers on the rear to give about 10mm strut clearance. Needs a little negative camber on the fronts, I'll sort that out soon. |
