You don't need any qualification to do a wheel alignment. Loosen the bolts, turn till the lasers tell the computer its where you want it. tighten the bolts, road test.
If you know the angles you want, and can tell the operator or advisor, its not a big deal.
Most wheel alignment software has a database of manufacturer specs in it anyway, so you cant get it wrong.
It just appears that Bob Janes don't know the product.
To say you shouldn't own a WRX just because you wont take it to a particular place is ridiculous.
EDIT: posted after above, sorry

Looks like I opened a can of worms on this one. It wasn't my intension. I dont understand why Mister Two you would say you dont deserve a WRX, are you saying I should have known how to do this for myself?
This is my first post and for most people who have written back I appreciate your input, if I knew everthing about the WRX I would not be on here.
Thanks Again!!!

No they are saying you only deserve a wrx if you take it to circle jerk workshops that are the only ones in the world that can do a simple service or alignment.

Yes an alignment is pretty simple... and yet... it is apparently over the heads of Pedder's staff.

You dont have to take it to Wheels world. You don't have to take it to Wilkinsons.

Just don't take it to Pedders or some place that allows a gimp apprentice to try and setup a high performance sports car. Leave the commodores and other taxis to them.

Take your WRX to a specialist that knows performance cars and performance alignments. Not just look up a table of OE specs and yet still throw their hands up because that's too difficult for them.

You had a whole range of people telling you to take it to a handful of specialist workshops and yet because you couldnt secure an appointment at one of them, you put it in the "too hard" basket and declared you would go back to Pedders. Yeah, that makes me think you don't deserve a WRX.
It may look like circle jerking. But these workshop get recommended because they actually do a good job. They aren't our "mates workshop" that we are trying to plug. They are respected businesses that have cultivated a reputation of professionalism and wisdom through long term experience dealing with WRXs and other sports cars.

I see your point Mister Two and if Pedders can fix this minor problem great , if they cant I will take it to wheel world when they have thier staff back and get it done properly. I never said I had a problem at Pedders why did you say apparently its over thier heads, am I missing something?
Ive had a Torana SLR and a Commodore ute previously and never put much thought into it.
From now on ill book in advance before I have problems so I dont have to drive to the other end of Perth and hope I make it there.

Take the car to any aligner imo. You will find some pro's working in some weird places.

(FYI, the staff member 'coming back' at Wheels World died the other day, that's why you can't book in and why a few of us are a bit sensitive about the issue)

Just get a read out of the before and after. Also pays to do some homework on what makes a good alignment and ask for those specific specs.

i.e. Maximum caster, 0 toe front, 1 degree toe in at rear, 1-2 deg negative camber front, 1 deg negative camber rear... would be a good starting point.

Do not listen to the Pedders usual crap about 'omg your flux capacitor needs new bearings - we have some here for $1,000,000'.

If they can't achieve the settings you want, ask them why. If they can't answer why, ask them why you should be paying them. On a stock standard car, the above should be possible.

Default Problem Solved

Hi guys, just an update. Just got the camber and toe adjust at Pedders Joondalup and everything is fine now. All the bolts were tight as and it seemed like they were not even touched by Bob Jane (buggers) maybe they couldnt loosen them. All good now and if you live up Joondalup way and want someone close to do it Pedders Joondalup and ask for Ray.
They charge $120 but did it for $100.
Yay!!!
P.S Thanks for input by all , even though I didnt take all of your advise lol
