I had the wonerfull check engine light come on my wrx from the moment I put an exhaust on it. The first time I saw it I was about to go to the motorplex to do some drags. I pulled over, thought 'wtf' and called my old man to see what I should do. I drove the car home like a baby and parked her up for a few days.
Next time I started the car the CEL was gone so I figured it must just have been one of those things. But then the CEL started coming on more and more often as I started to get used to the car. I noticed it only started coming at about 5,000 rpm or greater. Took the car to Subaru and they replaced some bearings in the engine bay, added a new sensor, rebuilt my gearbox and did it all under warrenty too. Car came out feeling like new, later gave it some limiter love (just to make sure that CEL devil was gone) and no problems at all. If you get a CEL and can't be positive why its coming on... keep nagging workshops / subaru until that light goes off. It's there for a reason... to check the engine. |
