Default 2000 WRX reading faults( help!)

I have a 2001 WRX and trying to bring up any fault codes, on mine the connectors for fault finding are green ,not black. I put the plugs together then turned the key to the first click, nothing lights up, turn all the way to accessories and the fuel pump keeps constantly re- priming itself over and over and the fans turn on/off constantly too.

ontop of that that Engine warning light you use for fault finding just continues to keep flashing at the same rate and keeps going?.

What am I doing wrong?...

I want to buy one those Handheld OBD2 Scanners that you see on Ebay to check for error codes on the WRX 2001.

I'm reading online that guys are having probs getting the Scanners to work in conjunction with ECUTEK?? even though the scanners are suppose to be Compatible. Can anyone confirm this or advise on which one works well?............

Those scanners won't work with your my00
I didn't think they were compatible with my01 onwards

There should be no issue using this with ecutek as you are reading the ecu fault code
And not trying to edit the rom, as ecutek locks them out

Ive been reading that those Cheap as chips Autel Maxiscan MS 300 work well with Subaru's , hell they are on Ebay for $20-- $30! ,I know quality will be shit but as long as it works reading/ showing error codes I don't care!

C100 OBDII/EOBD code reader
Not only will it show the code number it will also give a description of the fault and let you clear the code ( if the fault is still present the code will re-show again)
Some cars it will also show the water temp, oil temp, speed, revs, and so on. on my 2002 bug eye wrx it shows most of these.
If you like i can plug mine into your car and you can see if it works and how it works before buying one, Are you currently running ECUTEK or you are just looking into getting it, as i don't know the compatibility with ECUTEK.
The site you linked to with the green+black plugs are for the older subaru's that didn't have a OBDII port ( you do have a OBDII port under the steering wheel ?? )

I have the OBD2 Port under the Steering wheel, some guys are saying with ECUTEK it has probs communicating with many scanners?.

How much did yours cost = looks expensive!??.

Im getting conflicting stories of what exactly ECUTEK is!? but from my understanding its a chip installed in the factory ecu similar to nissans Nistune Boards? to allow FULL tuning, yet others say Subaru Ecu's are ready tuneable from factory so Im still a bit confused....

If I can see if yours works on my car, that would be Awesome!

About $50 on ebay just search "c100 obd" and you will find it.
Mine is a stock ecu
I work in Cannington and live in kelmscott
What area are you in? Send me a PM and we can arange a meet
Sorry to re ask but you never said, is your car currently running on an ecutek tune? Or looking to do it in the future? Or your unshore of what your ecu is running? If your running a stock ECU it should work no dramas,
Although when I plugged it into a 2003 It would not read as many extra things, water temp and so on, only a limited amount of things showed in the menu.
