Default Short shifter clicking

Hi All,

I've had an intermittent click sound for a while that's progressively gotten worse until I've now finally found the culprit. Basically the blue piece on the shaft moves up and down the spline about 2 or 3mm, and its quite loose now. When changing into 1st, 3rd or 5th it moves up, and 2dn and 4th it clicks down onto the flared part above the ball joint.

Its been in the car since before I bought it and i'm not sure what brand it is. I cant see any obvious way to tighten it on the spline, and I'm guessing there is no way... unless someone knows something I don't or has any suggestions to stop it moving?

It also appears to be hitting the floor. Quite common for cheap shifters. It's probably not economically repairable, just get another one or an original one.

Yeh that's what I thought. Normally doesn't touch that bracket, its only because its slid up in that pic. Dang, more money!

Hi there
The linkage touching your bracket that must annoy you heaps, why not use a little slide hammer fix in 3 seconds.
Just to let you know my experience I am glad I didn't go for a cheapy short shifter I just bought a GFB shifter which has a 3 hole bracket which works pretty well but the idiots in England sent the ferrel and bolts for a diff model so I had to reuse some old parts. I can adjust it so it misses the floor bracket. Cost me about $100 delivered

Thanks, but i do like the short throw

Mechanically its fine, I have no issues changing gears. Its just a minor annoyance.

I will persevere until i get a decent one in there. Thanks for the responses all!
