Default A/C Troubleshooting.

Just wondering past checking the fuse in the dash and the relay under the bonnet if there is any other easy things I can check to test why my compressor isn't kicking in when hitting the A/C switch? I want to cover all I can before heading to the auto electrician.

If the ac compressor isn't clutching in and out then its Proberbly low on gas. Unless you can see an oily residue around any of the lines then you will need to get it re gassed with a die and check again

Have you got fans/heaters working and just ac not kicking in? If no fans at all certainly check relays and fuses. I had this and ended up being shorted blower motor, meant sourcing another from a parts in Malaga and getting the elec to install. Day auto elec diagnosed problem for 104, and installed ,motor for 40 so wasn't to bad. That said this apparently is not a normal prob for subaru.

Thanks guys.. after some further investigation.. turns out that the compressor is turning..Auto sparky thinks it needs gas.

PS: When buying a used car privately.. never trust the words.."I think its just the switch mate"

O rings die all the time mate, it's not uncommon for any car, you can just about guarantee that's what it will be.

Spot on mate.. even the sparky mentioned them. He says that its a (semi) fault with them and he fits a slightly larger one to prevent gas loss.

Yeah when I re-built a car a few years ago I put new O rings throughout to save time but the sparky ripped them all out to put fatter ones in.
