I have actually experienced the opposite with my previous car Liberty GT. I lost a little bit of power when I went from the stock box and aftermarket panel filter to a CAI.
As for JDM cars vs ADM cars I would suggest that variables such as temperatures (much cooler temps in Japan than WA generally speaking), altitude, not mention fuel quality have some bearing on this topic. A short ram in WA is going to suck hot air big time. The companies who make and sell CAI will tell you what they want you to hear in order to sell you there product.

Fair enough. Just a second opinion for others to consider.

As already said, unless your trying to feed a big turbo CAI is a bit of a money waster, like a aftermarket BOV it makes some more noise and the seller has made you believe it will make a difference.

Static Dyno tests with the bonnet up and filter exposed to ambient temps is a different scenario to bonnet closed and exposed heat soaked pods. Often pods are incorrectly referred to as a CAI. But there are potential gains to be made if you can seal off the filter from the engine bay and feed it from a place that has a good flow of positive pressure. Essentially though. This is what the stock system does. Hence a real world test is unlikely to see a real gains.
