What with all that "shimmking" and "diff whiplash" you aint got a hope in hell. BTW me thinks that should read shimming and backlash
From what little I know PPG need to have the syncro's from an old box swapped into the newer 99 units to compensate for the wider gears. Shims are used to ensure the selector forks align with new gears and many parts may be replaced subject to a conditional inspection. Not suitable for a back yarder

One of the best answers ivve had ever since the thread was started , besides ppl saying not to go ahead with it , but yeah im kinda falling out of it and getting abit scared now but will see whathappens as im not fully learned about it yet...
Thats what i was thinking ripping out the box clean out the inside put in the NEW ppg and of i go in the heaven of ppg str8 cut Rexiez HEHEHE

you do know the difference between positive and negative attention right?

Take it to the shop, surely it will take you ages to do the job right? My theory is, I can either spend 20 hours on a 10 hour job or work for 20 hours and pay for the 10 hour job to be done properly!

I certainly believe in miracles, but i wouldn't take such an approach to my car.

I'd prefer to get it done properly first time and be done with it.

Ok the car was taken to XSPEED to fit 1st and 2nd ppg straight cut! There is a problem they say that the current gear box i have is screwed so they cant fit the gears so they have another gear box for me and its $1500 plus the gear set !!!

All this after a long 3 weeks the car been sitting their...When they said the same week you drop the car it should be finished!!!!!

Any addvice would be great on what to do ere ???
Need it asap plz

Can you add anything more on why XSPEED feel the box is beyond repairs?

Grab the box and take it to another shop for a second opinion. Try Tony Flood or RMS.

If your 3rd, 4th and 5th gears are stuffed also, then you'll need more than just the PPG 1st-2nd gearset.

Seeing as you drove with the busted box for a while, I wouldnt be surprised if bits of teeth from your broken 2nd gear have gone through all the rest of the gears and ruined them.
