Suspension setup...
Hi All,
It's about time I did some suspension work on my MY05. I here John at Wheels World is the guy to see. What do you guys recommend for a nice setup for the street, the car is my daily drive so it mustn't be rock hard. I want an aggressive stance and much better handling. I reckon the Rex has great grip but it's handling is average. Should I go swaybars as well?? I think coilovers are a bit of an overkill for my purposes. Any info would be great!! Cheers DRex |

As far as upgrading yours... lowered springs and an aftermarket set of shockies should do the trick... although... Personally i prefer the coilover option! Last edited by Jimmy S; 15-08-2005 at 10:01 PM. |

mate, if you just want decent handling, grab yourself some stock sti/spec-c struts and springs, go a rear swaybar and a front swaybar if you have DCCD, a front strut top brace, lower h front crossbar and perhaps some spherical trailing arms/lateril links for the rear. you should get that in and fitted for under $1500 and your car will handle twice as good as it did before. for a GDA/B i probably wouldnt worry about an antilift kit till your chasing the last little bit of castor, at that point get some pillowball strut tops at the same time and then get a rear strut top brace and lock up arms for the front engine support braces.

Thanx guys,
So $1500 seems to be a decent budget to get some noticeable improvements in handling. OK. Will give John at Wheels World a call and see what he says. Springs, shockies and swaybars seem to be the go. I'll probably go for 30mm lowered springs. Cheers again DRex |

remember that lowered springs are a short term gain for a long term pain.
they will flog your struts out over an extended period of time, so be sure to get a set of springs that are well matched to your application. ie, not the cheapest.

Mate, I have an 05 and went to see John about 6 weeks ago. He recommended, and I got, front and rear 22mm adjustable whiteline sway bars set to middle setting for the road.Camber bolts all round and a complete re alignment.I haven't got springs done yet, maybe in the future. I now use the car for MC and it makes alot of difference, the car corners alot flatter now.

EOI: STI suspension
Might be changing to coilovers. Anyone interested in STI inverted struts with lowered Kings springs. Off an 04 STI. Done 16,000 km on struts and prob half that on the springs.
Springs are 35mm lowered (Part No: front - KSFL22, rear - KSRL39). Looking at $1500 negotiable. |

I hate to break it to you.. but you could get a set of Spec C struts and springs for around the $500 - $650 mark.
Tad unrealistic? |
