old doesnt always mean bad. My legacy is 17 years old but still runs like new. And has no problem keeping up and in some cases beating its newer rivals.
Poor maintenance is the real problem and its something that the nissan 300zx suffers from. And a pain in the ass engine bay doesnt exactly make a mechanic enthusiastic about working on one. Why bother with a 300zx when a skyline does the job better. nicer engine bay, more room on the interior, about the same weight. If you really like that kind of a swept shape then a sw20 Mr2 is a better option. And as said above. The TT soarer is also a much better option. A 300zx is definitely an "acquired taste"

I like to read what ppl have to say and answer questions a I can, but this guy was getting information based one 3rd and 4th hand sources. How does that help him make a decision? We've had ppl come to our forum to ask about skylines or even Toyota's etc. and we answer there questions if we can but if we don't know we won't make half-assed comments about them having ceramic turbos. And as for the '93 Impreza comment, that was for the guy saying the 300zx was made in '89. That was when the first model was made and it was revised all the way up until 1999. Just like the Impreza technology evolved. They now have the 350Z replacing the 300zx, but it is a slower car due to lack of turbos and emission requirements causing issues. Oh and to the guy saying a WRX is faster than a 300ZX. Stock for stock it isn't, a stock STi is probably on par or a touch quicker. All details taken off either www.subaru.com.au or www.extrememachines.com.au to keep it fair in stock setup. WRX (07) = 169kw/5600:320/3600 Nm:1415kg :5.9 sec 0-100 STi (07) = 206kw/5600:392/4000 Nm:1450kg*:5.4 sec 0-100 300ZX = 206kw/6000:388/xxxx Nm: 1490kg :5.6 sec 0-100 SC250 = 206kw/6200:362/4800 Nm: 1646kg :6.5 sec 0-100 SC400 = 194kw/5300:360/4500 Nm: 1646kg :7.5 sec 0-100 *couldn't find it's weight, made a educated guess. extrememachines had them listed as higher than 206 (the 300 and SC) but they were 206 as all Jap cars are rated by law. Probably higher, but can't verify numbers. Oh, and dude who said Lexus are faster, more stylish etc. The SC250 (TT) is the fast version yeah? Yet it doesn't come close to the 300zx or the Subaru. And the V8 "luxury" model is even worse for performance. The 300ZX was designed as a GT too, and the seats are fantastic for long drives so really don't see what the V8 soarer has that the 300 doesn't apart from two extra cylinders and a larger engine. Come on ppl, I'm not trolling here. I'm giving you a chance to back-up your comments. |

I challenge you to get those times from a stock 300zx. so many manufacturers over state those kinds of times and statistics. While it may be possible to get those times when you have good tires and a clean dry road. Getting the launch right on a RWD is very difficult to replicate a time of 5.6 seconds. On the other hand getting those kinds of times on a WRX or STI is fairly easy thanks to the 4WD platform. And really, in the end those 0-100 times, as close as they are, wont mean diddly fucking squat when the road starts to bend.
