Rowing
Looking to get into a bit of rowing, for river and ocean stuff. Have literally no idea of even where to start looking. Anyone else into it can offer some advice?

Rowing or paddling?
I just bought a 2nd hand Finn Endorfinn for paddling on the river, would be a handful in the sea at the mo for me..... |

Rowing is where the set slides....
Mine is a single seater sit on kayak with a rudder, but got a couple of mates withem so all good for going out with the boys. I've found it really hard on my gut as you rely alot on the your inner core muscles to help with stability of the boat. I got a bad back and reckon this is gonna really help with building up some support for it. I am a beginner as well and just bought what my mates recomended and as I got it second hand, figured I had nothing to loose. |

Stinga has covered it well..
Heaps of cheap kayaks in the quokka because people get them and realise that they can only go round in circles or not keep themselves up right. As a beginner I recommend one with a rudder as the ones without are very homo to get used to and keep in a straight line.. When buying second hand always check the bottom of the kayak for dents scratches holes gouges etc as it will give you an indication as to how its been treated. Also check the rudder linkages as they can be expensive on some kayaks to repair..

Excellent, cheers. When I was living in the states I used to do a few river kayak trips, so not a complete beginner, at least I know how to go straight

800 bucks including back support, paddle and trolley (I wheel it down to the river)
Not sure what a 2 seater would be like if you wanted to go out on your own.... If you wanna go for a spin on it yell out, I live in Bicton. Al |

I know theres a kayak / surf ski place around the corner at work here in Wangara and im sure they do test mornings on the rivers to see what you like, what you feel comfy on etc.
Might be worth pm'ing WRXTACTIC too. I know he was getting into it a bit but not sure about now, now he doesnt live so close to beach! |
